As for evaluation of the course which i prefer to be outcome oriented, it may be formative, summative or illuminative as Jack Richards suggests. Actually i had much discussion with my tutor of Business English ( Dr Hamish) about the main differences between assessment and evaluation , i really did mix between them and i used to believe and i still do that evaluation is a kind of ongoing needs assessment which should be based on more better information. My tutor Dr Hamish assumed that assessment is concerned with the process of teaching whereas evaluation is concerned with the product or outcome and i could understand this, however i see that assessment is much more significant as my experience as a high school teacher with evaluation was just to please or satisfy the outer authority of local education.i like the formative evaluation which is mainly intended to inform about the students' achievements. i suggest the following evaluation checklist:
