I think this week three beginning, isn't it?
How is everyone feeling about their computer/communication skills?

Oops. That should have read, "I think this is week three beginning, isn't it?"
I feel as if I need to make a lot of mistakes because "you learn by your mistakes" and I am in great need of learning something!

Computer skills? Not feeling like an Einstein. Communication skills: like a trader with lots of phones in his/her hand at once.
When I try to edit the wiki (rather than just add comment), I get a blank page, so I can't see what I want to edit!

Jez!
I've just got the context of your message (posted 6:44pm Feb 2nd) i.e. following my message (posted 4:06pm Feb 2nd).
I think I first read your message out of context (on first class) and wasn't too sure of what you meant. But now it is all clear. Why did that miscommunication occur? I must have been opening emails in first class without being signed in to pbwiki.
But yeah, I see what you mean about there being a blank page after pressing "edit."
Yip. I can add comments but as to editing? I'll have to put my hand up and say, "I'm stuck."

Hi - have checked the settings and can't see any reason why you can't edit. You are listed as a "writer" which means you should be able to click on EDIT and then add or change the page.

ohhhhh that is really hard, to edit something means to add more perfection and smarter remaks to it, i think i still need to learn more and more to add positive things to things and not to spoil them.

Hi Khalid - can't find a page called "English for all". There is a page called "new page" - maybe that's it?
Ruby said

Ah - I've just thought about another possibility, Khalid. Did you mean you had created a new page, or did you create a new wiki? There are no new pages on this wiki with that name, but there is a wiki with the URL https://english-for-all.pbwiki.com. I have no idea what is on it because I don't have permission for that wiki. Is that your missing wiki?

Hi Ruby
Yes it is https://english-for-all.pbwiki.com. Why it is not a part of our learning online wiki.

I seem to be better able to edit when I open the wiki outside of WebCT. No blank pages when in Edit mode.

"I seem to be better able to edit when I open the wiki outside of WebCT. No blank pages when in Edit mode." - Ah! Now makes a bit more sense! I didn't realise that it was not possible to edit if the link from WebCT was used and the page shows up in the course window.

Hi Khalid - not sure what you mean ... if you want people to be able to find your wiki then you should copy the URL and then send that to people. If they click on the URL you send them they will see your page.

Will, I want to publish my wiki to different mailing list. in another word .Can I create a privet mailing list in the wiki?
Ruby said

Still not sure what you mean ... do you want to post a list of email addresses on a page on the wiki? Or do you want to let people know where to find the wiki? A wiki doesn't work like email. What mailing list do you mean?

Hi Margaret
You don't need to do anyting - they are now live web pages!
Just have a look and see what they are like - or tell others to have a look and let you know!

Ruby said

Hi Margaret - have a look at the instructions on WebCT (block 1 > web pages > uploading your web pages). You'll have to work out what the URL is from your First Class name

Hi Yahya - feel free to add things to the wiki! I'll be making changes in January, for the next group, but at least until then you can add things. It would be good to know if people have been able to put some ideas into practice ...
